Self-healing in AI testing tools: documented versus claimed

Published by AI QA Directory on . Built from the catalogue data as of that date; tool pages carry the current facts.

As of 2026-09-24, 90 of the 330 tools in the catalogue document self-healing. Another 49 state it only on marketing pages. For 188 tools, we found no public page that describes it.

What the self-healing fact records

The self-healing fact records whether the vendor's documentation describes how tests repair themselves when the app changes. The fact takes one of three values: documented, vendor-stated or none.

For example, ACCELQ documents self-healing in a support article on adaptive element identification.

By evidence level

Counts across 330 tools as of 2026-09-24:

By evidence level

Documented as present90
Documented as not offered3

The 3 tools documented as not offered have a documentation page that rules the feature out. The 188 not-documented tools have no public page either way. Not documented does not mean the tool lacks self-healing.

By category

Counts by primary category as of 2026-09-24. Rows are sorted by the documented count, then by category name A-Z.

Agentic end-to-end testing accounts for 36 of the 90 documented tools. In the test maintenance and self-healing category, 9 of 11 tools document it and the other 2 state it on marketing pages.

In managed AI QA services, 6 of 11 tools state self-healing only on marketing pages, and 1 documents it.

The capability count is a different number

Tool pages also carry an AI capabilities fact, a list such as test case generation, self-healing and no-code. As of 2026-09-24, 83 tools have a documented capability list that includes self-healing. A further 31 tools include self-healing in a vendor-stated capability list.

The self-healing fact and the capability list are verified separately. We cross-checked the two in the data:

  • 82 tools document both.
  • 4 tools document the self-healing fact, but their capability list is vendor-stated.
  • 4 tools document the self-healing fact, but their capability list does not include self-healing.
  • 27 tools have both at the vendor-stated level.
  • 1 tool lists self-healing in a documented capability list, while its self-healing fact is not documented.

Why the two can differ

Each fact carries one evidence level and one source. The capability list is a single fact, so every item in it shares that level. If the list comes from a feature page, the whole list is vendor-stated. This holds even when a separate docs page describes self-healing, which is what happens for the 4 tools in the second row.

The capability list also records only what its source page names. A docs overview can list other capabilities and leave self-healing to its own page.

The self-healing fact has a narrower test. It needs a page that describes how tests repair themselves. A capability list can name self-healing without that description.

Where to see the list

The documented self-healing feature page lists the 90 tools whose self-healing fact is documented. Each tool page shows the source and the verified-on date for the fact. Vendor claims about self-healing results stay in the labelled vendor-stated block on each tool page.
