Pricing models across 330 AI testing tools: September 2026 baseline

Published by AI QA Directory on . Built from the catalogue data as of that date; tool pages carry the current facts.

As of 2026-09-24, the catalogue lists 330 AI testing tools. The pricing model is documented for 277 of them. This post records the counts per model as a dated baseline, and later monthly pricing posts compare against it.

Why this post is a baseline

This is the first pricing snapshot of the catalogue. No earlier snapshot exists, so this post reports no changes. The monthly update re-verifies the pricing page of every tool and flags any change, with its source and date. The next pricing post will report those changes against the figures below.

Evidence behind the counts

Every pricing model fact carries an evidence level and a verified-on date. As of 2026-09-24, the split across 330 tools is:

  • documented: 277 tools
  • vendor-stated: 26 tools
  • not documented: 27 tools

A documented model is confirmed on a documentation-class page, such as a pricing page, a documentation page or a licence file. A vendor-stated model appears only on a marketing page. A not documented model was looked for and not found on any public page. The counts in the rest of this post use documented facts only. The methodology explains the three levels in full.

Pricing model names

The model names come from the catalogue taxonomy. A tool can carry more than one model, so the per-model counts add up to more than 277.

  • free-tier: a plan with no charge and no time limit. A free trial does not count.
  • flat-tier: plans at fixed prices, each with a set level of access.
  • per-seat: a price per user or per seat.
  • usage-credits: a price per unit consumed, such as credits, test runs or minutes.
  • outcome-based: a price tied to delivered results, on the terms the vendor's pricing page sets out.
  • enterprise-quote: a price given only on request, for example through "contact sales". No number is recorded for it.
  • managed-service: the vendor delivers testing as a service, with people working alongside a platform.

Tools with a single documented model

Some tools document exactly one model. As of 2026-09-24, 66 tools document free-tier as their only pricing model. As of the same date, 33 tools document enterprise-quote as their only pricing model. The catalogue never estimates a price for a tool that prices by quote.

Free tier as a separate fact

The catalogue also records the free tier as its own fact, apart from the pricing model list. That fact is documented as yes for 175 tools as of 2026-09-24. The two fields are verified separately, so their counts can differ. The free tiers post covers the free tier fact by category.

Where to see each tool

The pricing page groups tools by model. Each row shows the published price, billing, source and verified-on date. Tools priced by enterprise-quote appear there without a number. The tools list filters by pricing model and free tier.
